1880 Census19 Jun 1880 Lillie Robertson appeared on the 1880 U.S. census of Delta County, TX, at Precinct 3, enumerated 19 Jun 1880, in the household of her parents, Gustavus Boone Robertson and Isabella Gentry. She was shown as age 12, born TX. 
Marriagec 23 Dec 1895 Lillie Robertson married Lawson A. Enloe c 23 Dec 1895 at Delta County, TX. The license was issued on that date; there is no return and thus no specific proof as to the exact date of the marriage. 
1900 Census6 Jun 1900 Lillie Robertson Enloe and Lawson A. Enloe appeared on the 1900 U.S. census of Hopkins County, TX, at Precinct 5, enumerated 6 Jun 1900. Lawson was shown as a 36-year-old farmer, born MS Aug 1863; Lillie was shown as 32, born TX Aug 1867. They had been married 15 years. Living with them was a child they took into their home but, apparently, did not adopt, Joseph Baty, age 8. (According to a history of the Enloe family written for the Delta County Historical Society, Lillie and Lawson adopted the boy; however, he does not appear in any further records of the family.) Close neighbors were Lillie's sister Fannie and her husband John Harrison (household 74) and the family of the man who later became Lillie's second husband, Peter D. Wilson (household 73). 
Marriage15 Dec 1903 Lillie Robertson married Peter D. Wilson on 15 Dec 1903 at Hopkins County, TX. The marriage license was issued December 2, 1903 and the wedding performed on December 15th by J. F. Sanders, a minister of the Gospel. The record was filed in Hopkins County on February 3, 1904. 
1910 Census28 Apr 1910 Lillie Robertson Wilson and Peter D. Wilson appeared on the 1910 U.S. census of Coahoma, Howard County, TX, at Precinct 2, enumerated 28 Apr 1910. Peter was shown as a 42-year-old general merchant, born TX; Lillie as age 42, born TX, mother of two children, one surviving. They had been married for six years. Their daughter Lillian Lois was listed as living with them. So too were Peter's sons by his first marriage. All four children -- Robert L., age 18; Patty, age 17; William R., age 8, and Liilian L. (usually called Lois), age 5 -- were born TX. Also enumerated with the household was Lillie's 17-year-old nephew William Harrison, son of Lillie's sister Fannie, who was most likely visiting the family: he had also been counted with his own family two weeks earlier. 
1920 Census24 Jan 1920 Lillie Robertson Wilson and Peter D. Wilson appeared on the 1920 U.S. census of Howard County, TX, enumerated 24 Jan 1920. Peter was shown as a 50-year-old general farmer, born TX; Lillie as age 50, born TX. They owned their farm subject to a mortgage. Their daughter Lillian Lois was listed as living with them. So too was Peter's son Roy from his first marriage. Roy was age 18 and Lois age 15, both born TX. Also enumerated in the household were two lodgers, both teachers in the public schools, Louise Senn, age 22, born TX; and Ed Simpson, age 29, born TX. 
1930 Census10 Apr 1930 Lillie Robertson Wilson and Peter D. Wilson appeared on the 1930 U.S. census of Cameron County, TX, at Old Point Isabel Road, enumerated 10 Apr 1930. Peter Wilson was shown as a 61-year-old farmer on a truck farm, born TX; Lillie was shown as age 61, born MS.They owned their farm, worth $10,000. Their daughter Lillian Lois was listed as living with them. So too were their son-in-law, Lois' husband, Thomas Norrell, and grandchildren Marie Norrell and Thomas Norrell Jr. Lois was 24; Thomas was a 31-year-old carpenter; Marie was 4; Thomas Jr. was 18 months old. All of the Norrells were born TX. 
Death13 Feb 1956 Lillie Robertson Wilson died on 13 Feb 1956 at Corpus Christi, Nueces County, TX, at age 87. Lillie's obituary appeared in the Corpus Christi Caller on 14 Feb 1956. It read:

"Mrs. Lily Wilson, 87, died at 3:20 A.M. yesterday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. T. J. Norrell of Flour Bluff with whom she had been living the past two years.

"She was a member of the Church of Christ.

"Beside her daughter, she is survived by 3 sons, Robert, Pat and Ray Wilson, all of Big Spring, 21 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren.

"Funeral services will be at the Eberle Funeral Home in Big Spring. Cage-Mills Funeral Home is in charge of local arrangements."

Notec 1923  The Tillman County History shows Fred Robertson as a member of the first graduating class of the Hollister OK high school. His obituary states that he graduated from Hollister High School in 1923. The age does not quite match but may be explained by the fact that the boys could not go to school every year, but traded off -- one going to school while another worked on the farm. 
Notebt 1924 - 1925  Letters written to his mother from Stillwater show that Fred attended Oklahoma Agricultural and Mechanical College, which later became Oklahoma State University. 
1930 Census14 Apr 1930 Fred G. Robertson appeared on the 1930 U.S. census of Frederick (Hazel Twp.), Tillman County, OK, at 201 S. 16th Street, enumerated 14 Apr 1930. Fred was a 29-year-old bookkeeper for a grain elevator, shown as living in an owned home with a value of $3000. Also enumerated as members of his household were Eula Baird Robertson and Ray C. Robertson, his 59-year-old widowed mother and his 24-year-old brother (listed as absent, attending school, on the census form). 
Marriage1 Jan 1932 Fred G. Robertson married Olera Hannah on 1 Jan 1932 at prob Tillman County, OK. 
Death2 Mar 1952 Fred G. Robertson died on 2 Mar 1952 at Frederick, Tillman County, OK, at age 51. The date of death according to records of burials at the Frederick OK cemetery was 4 Mar 1952. On her petition for letters of administration, his widow Olera stated he died on or about 2 Mar 1952. And the death certificate is 2 Mar 1952. Presumably, 4 Mar was the burial date.

The cause of death is listed as "cardio renal". 
Burial4 Mar 1952 He was buried on 4 Mar 1952 at Frederick, Tillman County, OK. Fred is buried just to the side of his father, Jasper C. Robertson. His stone reads, simply, "Fred Robertson 1900-1952".

The census indicates the Holleys had been married four years and that Nettie had another child who did not survive. A records check in Wichita County shows that a baby "Mary Holly", aged six months and 26 days, died of hydrocephalus in Iowa Park in November 1907.

Nettie was shown as a 40-year-old widow, born TX, working as the manager of the telephone office. Her children Myrtle Maud were listed as living with her. Myrtle was shown as age 10, born TX. Both were boarders in the home of Mary E. Biggs. 
Note7 Mar 1934  Nettie Holley was badly burned in an apartment fire in Lubbock TX on 7 Mar 1934. An article in the Lubbock TX newspaper, Thursday 8 Mar 1934, appeared under the headline "Woman Badly Burned Here" and subhead "Mrs. Nettie Holley Reported In Critical Condition At West Texas Hospital After Mishap Wednesday" read:

"Burned in her three-room apartment at 1414 Thirteenth Street Wednesday morning, Mrs. Nettie Holley, 55, a widow, was in critical condition in West Texas hospital last night.

Vapors of gasoline with which Mrs. Holley was cleaning bathroom fixtures were ignited by fire in a stove in the living room.

An attendant at the hospital said Mrs. Holley was "weaker" late yesterday.

The fire department answered an alarm at 11:05 o'clock. Mrs. Holley's apartment, the east one on the groundfloor of a two-story brick apartment house, was not damaged greatly, firemen said.

Mrs. Holley had the window of the bathroom partly raised and air entering there evidently drove vapors of the gasoline into the living room.

The woman suffered third degree burns on the arms, legs, and face, attending physicians at West Texas hospital said. They regarded her condition as serious. The burns were deep, doctors said.

A Rix-Bynum ambulance took Mrs. Holley to the hospital.

A daughter, Miss Myrtle Holley, who lived with her mother, was called to the hospital." 
Death8 Mar 1934 Nettie Cottrell Holley died on 8 Mar 1934 at Lubbock, Lubbock County, TX, at age 55. As to Nettie Holley's death, her niece Cladyne Cottrell Barrett notes: "Mama [Opal Robertson Cottrell] was pregnant with Jerry [born July 1934] and couldn't go to Lubbock with dad to Nett's funeral. She and [daughter] Myrtle had wanted an upstairs apt in the building where they lived for a long time and when it became available, she took cleaning supplies, including gasoline (can you imagine it, but she was one of those neat-niks) upstairs to clean, shut herself in the bathroom and gas heater was in room and when gas exploded, she finally managed to squeeze through the window and went down the fire-escape to her apt....she died in hospital that night."

Her obituary, in the Lubbock TX newspaper on Friday 9 Mar 1934 appeared under the headline "Holley Rites Held Thursday" and subhead "Lubbock Woman Dies Thursday Morning Of Burns Received Wednesday; Burial To Be At Wichita Falls". It read:

"Funeral of Mrs. Nettie Holley, 55-year-old widow who was burned fatally about 11 a.m. Wednesday here, were conducted at 5 o'clock Thursday afternoon at First Methodist Church, which she attended, The body was sent by Rix-Bynum Funeral home to Wichita Falls for burial there Friday.

Mrs. Holley, of 1414 Thirteenth street, died at 7 o'clock Thursday morning in West Texas hospital.

A daughter, Miss Myrtle Holley, who lived with her mother, survived. They came here from Midland two years ago. Other survivors were:

Mrs. Holley's father, M.G. Cottrell of Lovington, N.M; three brothers, Clay Cottrell of Midland, G.F. Cottrell of Houston, and J.W. Cottrell of Mobridge, S.D., and three sisters, Mrs. J.H. Dean of Midland, Mrs. Morris Gottlieb of Albuquerque, N.M., and Mrs. C.E. Harris of Iowa Park.

Pallbearers were:

Neil H. Wright, Sam McMillin, H.L. Williford, W.E. Lavender, J.H. Whitesides, and J.D. McPhaul.

Third degree burns of Mrs, Holley's arms, legs, and face were inflicted when gasoline vapors were ignited. She was cleaning bathroom fixtures with the gasoline." 
Buriala 8 Mar 1934 She was buried a 8 Mar 1934 at Riverside Cemetery, Wichita Falls, Wichita County, TX. Nettie was buried next to her first-born daughter Mary and husband Henry Dixon Holley.

Real Name Her real name was Maggie Theo. She was generally known by the nickname "Tedd."

Note20 Oct 1909  When Mattie Cottrell and her younger children moved to Frederick in 1909 (when Mattie finally left M.G.), the house they lived in was apparently purchased in Theo Cottrell's name. Land records in Tillman County OK show the purchase of real estate in Frederick by Theo for $400, recorded November 20, 1909. The lots were 20 and 21 in Block 25 of the First Addition to Frederick Town.

Presumably these are Hertha's parents and sibling. There is no record of the family at the Ellis Island website.

Milit Svcebt 1940 - 1970 Billy Rex Cottrell served in the United States Navy bt 1940 - 1970. He retired as a Chief Warrant Officer.

Billy saw action in World War II with the USS Hornet in the Battle of Midway, serving as a rear gunner in Bombing Squadron 8 (VB-8); he was with the Hornet when it was sunk in the Battle of Santa Cruz. He was not flying in that battle because the pilot he flew with was ill. So when the ship was attacked he and others not flying took the .30-caliber guns from the aircraft that couldn't fly, mounted them on the rails of the ship and tried to defend the Hornet that way.

An old newspaper article tells the story of his friend Tom Cain of Aubrey, TX, who saw Billy's ship sunk and went to Midland months later:

"MIDLAND - June 9 (AP): Navy Coxswain Tom Cain of Aubrey, Tex., arrived here on what he described as the saddest mission of his life -- that of telling the parents of his old buddy, Bill Cottrell, that he had seen Cottrell's ship go down in the Pacific and that their son was believed dead. As he got off the bus, the first man he saw was Bill Cottrell." 
Death27 Feb 2008 He died on 27 Feb 2008 at Kents Store, Fluvanna County, VA, at age 88. He had been ill for some time and died, peacefully, in his sleep, at home. His obituary in the Charlottesville VA Daily Progress on 1 Mar 2008 read:

"Billy Rex Cottrell, 88, of Kents Store, Virginia, died Wednesday, February 27, 2008.

Born in Hollister, Oklahoma on November 8, 1919, and raised in Midland, Texas, he was the son of the late Clay Rex and Opal E. Cottrell.

He served his country in the United States Navy from before World War II through the Cold War. A veteran of the battle of Midway, the Solomon Islands campaign, the battle of Santa Cruz, and the blockade of Cuba, he served aboard numerous vessels, including the USS Chicago, USS Hornet, USS Coral Sea, USS Midway, and the USS Forrestal, and flew as crewman in several types of aircraft, including the SBC-4, SBD-3, and P2V.

During the battle of Midway, he served as an Aviation Radioman in Bombing Squadron 8 (VB-8) aboard the USS Hornet (where his plane was forced to ditch in the ocean). At Santa Cruz, before the Hornet was sunk on October 27, 1942, he and others not flying took .30-caliber guns from aircraft that could not fly, mounted them on the rails of the ship and defended the Hornet from attacking aircraft.

In his 30-year career with the Navy, he also served with Patrol Squadron 18, Patrol Squadron 26, Fleet Aircraft Service Squadron 3, and at Naval Air Stations throughout the world. During the course of this service, he was awarded the Navy Good Conduct Medal (five awards), the American Defense Medal (with one star), American Campaign Medal, the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal (with 3 stars), the World War II Victory Medal, and the National Defense Service Medal.

After retiring from the Navy as a Chief Warrant Officer Four on October 31, 1969, Billy Cottrell spent his time farming and raising dogs. He was an avid amateur radio operator, using the call sign W4CZY and achieving an advanced Amateur Extra license.

He is survived by three sisters, Cladyne C. Barrett and Carol C. Childress, both of Kents Store, Virginia and Patricia C. Williams and Thomas T. Jr., of Richmond, Virginia; and three brothers, David F. Cottrell and Terry, of Richmond, Virginia, Jerry L. Cottrell and Linda, of Englewood, Tennessee and Michael V. Cottrell and Celeste, of Kents Store, Virginia; and more than 35 nieces and nephews and more than 45 grandnieces and grandnephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Donald H. Cottrell of Midland, Texas, and Monte B. Cottrell of El Cajon, California; and three sisters, Ruth M. Cottrell of Iowa Park, Texas, Hazel C. Geissler of Kents Store, Virginia and Marianne C. Epps of Richmond, Virginia.

Graveside funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, March, 2, 2008, at the Byrd Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery in Kents Store, Virginia, conducted by the Reverend Jim Joyner.

The family will receive friends from 7 until 8:30 p.m. at the Sheridan Funeral Home on Saturday, March, 1, 2008." 
Burial2 Mar 2008 He was buried on 2 Mar 2008 at Byrd Chapel United Methodist Cemetery, Kents Store, Fluvanna County, VA. He received full military honors, including a 21-gun salute, the playing of "Taps," and the presentation of the flag to his oldest surviving sibling in attendance (brother David F. Cottrell).

Marshall was shown as age 3, and Gertrude as age 7 months (born August 1879), both born TX. The family was enumerated in household 111. Nearby were John's brother William (household 108), Martha Jane's parents (household 109), John's brother George (as a boarder in household 113) and George's future bride and her parents (household 115). 
Note  Martha Jane's husband John was committed to the State Asylum in 1884. She sought but abandoned a divorce effort thereafter, and she and her children simply disappeared from the records after the 1880 census. One article for the Delta County History suggests that she eventually remarried to a man named Jackson, but there is no marriage record that can be found and no census record of her or her children after 1880.

Abigah was a 42-year-old farmer, born August 1859 in GA of parents born GA, married 22 years to wife Martha, 45, born February 1855 in AL of parents born AL, mother of 10, 8 surviving (there were nine surviving, no information is known about a tenth child if there was one). Their children Lula A., Richard Alonzo "Lon", John Jackson, Noel Barton, Susie, Leva Pyron and Arthur Carlton were listed as living with them. Lula was shown as 21, born July 1878, "Lan", 17, born June 1882, John, 15, born June 1884, "Noll, 14, born April 1886, Susie, 12, born Apr 1888, Levy, 9, born June 1891, and "Author", 4, born September 1895. Just beneath the family's record is the census entry for daughter Etta, 20, born June 1879, and son in law Austin Roberts, 21, born April 1879. All the young people were shown as born AL.  
Note11 Jul 1907  The exact date on which the Livingstons arrived in Oklahoma is unknown. The first record of them there was on 11 July 1907, when they bought a lot in Frederick for $700 indicating that they were residents of Comanche County. (Note that Comanche County was divided into Comanche and Tillman Counties when Oklahoma became a state in November 1907.) An indenture for $700 was recorded on 21 Mar 1908, as was Abigah's sale of other Frederick property.

A.C. was shown as a 53-year-old widower, born GA, living on a farm he owned subject to a mortgage. His children Leva Pyron, Arthur Carlton and Margaret Etta Livingston were listed as living with him. The boys were both shown as born TX: Leva was shown as a 17-year-old farm laborer on a home farm, and 13-year-old Arthur C. as a 13-year-old farm laborer also attending school. Etta Roberts, Abigah's widowed daughter, was shown as age 28, born AL. Also enumerated with her were Agatha Roberts and Alton Roberts, her two children (Agatha was shown as 8 and attending school, and Alton was age 3). The children were shown as born TX. 
Marriage1912 Abigah C. Livingston married Mary E. Parks in 1912 at prob Tillman County, OK. Court and land records in Tillman County OK show that Abigah remarried by March of 1913 to a woman identified only as "M.E. Livingston" in those documents. Abigah's obituary identifies her as Mary Parks, and sets the year of their marriage as 1912. 
Note21 Sep 1914  Over the years, Abigah and his two wives (Martha Louise and Mary) recorded the purchase or sale of numerous pieces of property. For example, on 21 Sep 1914 Abigah and Mary sold land in Frederick to the Board of Education for $300. 
Note12 Sep 1918  On 21 Sep 1918, Abigah Livingston recorded the rights to Spaces 1-6, Lot 126 in Block C of the City Cemetery for $15.

Abigah was shown as age 69, born GA, 18 years old at first marriage (to Martha Louise). Mary was shown as "Sarah", age 57, age 15 on first marriage (identity of prior husband unknown), born AR. They were living in a home they owned worth $9000 and had two lodgers, 19-year-old Oliver Baird, a salesman at a retail variety store, and 33-year-old Thomas Caldwell, a barber.. 
Death9 Dec 1930 Abigah C. Livingston died on 9 Dec 1930 at Frederick, Tillman County, OK, at age 72. Abigah's widow petitioned for letters of administration on his estate on 28 Apr 1931, listing herself as widow and his children as Lon in Frederick OK, Noel in Wichita Falls TX, John in Newtown TX, Etta Roberts in Frederick OK, Lou (Lula) Lancaster in Frederick OK, Susie Kidwell in Frederick OK, Arthur in Frederick OK and Levi (Leva) in Frederick OK. He owned three lots in Frederick, two lots in Amherst TX and 88.55 acres in Lamb County TX (in the western panhandle). 
Buriala 9 Dec 1930 He was buried a 9 Dec 1930 at Frederick Cemetery, Frederick, Tillman County, OK. His stone reads: "Father, A.C. Livingston, August 22, 1859 - December 9, 1930".

Deathb 1975 Richard Alonzo "Lon" Livingston died b 1975. Leva Livingston wrote in 1975 that only he and Susie Livingston Kidwell survived of the children of Abigah and Martha Louise Shew Livingston. When and where Lon died is as yet unknown, but there is a Richard Livingston buried at Frederick Cemetery, date of death 6 Apr 1947.
