Susannah [--M?--] Shew
F, b. circa 1750, d. after 1832
Birth | c 1750 | Susannah [--M?--] Shew was born c 1750. |
Marriage | c 1770 | She married Phillip Shew c 1770. Assuming that Susannah was the mother of Phillip's known children, their marriage would have been around 1770 (the first child was born around 1772). It is of course entirely possible and even likely that Phillip had more than one wife; his first child was born around 1772, his last not until 28 years later around 1800. Note that Susannah was Philip's wife at the time of his death (she was named in his will) and that Phillip's daughter Hesse (m. John Glass) had a daughter named Susannah Catherine (called Catherine) who was reported to have been taught to count in Dutch by her grandmother. If this child was named for her grandmother, then Susannah was surely the mother of at least Phillip's younger children. |
1790 Census | 1790 | Based on age and gender, Susannah [--M?--] Shew was probably included, as a free white female, in the household of her husband, Phillip Shew, on the 1790 U.S. census of Guilford County, NC. |
