Their two children -- James, age 1, and William, age 5 months -- were both born GA. Also enumerated with them were two children who appear to be Mary's children by an earlier marriage, Elizabeth, age 15, and Albert, age 11. |

It is not entirely certain that this is the Phillip who was the son of David and Dorothy Davenport Baker, but his later appearance in Texas with Alabama born children suggests it is so. Phillip was shown as a 29-year-old farmer, born NC; Mary was shown as age 20, born GA. Their children John W. were listed as living with them. He was shown as age 1, born AL. |
1880 Census | 1880 | Margaret or Mary [-M?-] Davenport and Phillip P. L. Davenport appeared on the 1880 U.S. census of Franklin County, TX, enumerated 1880. Birth | c 1830 | Henry M. Rabun was born c 1830 at Haywood County, NC. |
Marriage | | He married Jane Sophia Davenport, daughter of David Davenport and Dorothy Baker. It is not at all certain that the Jane who appears as the wife of Henry Rabun on the 1860 census is Jane Sophia Davenport. However, the fact that Jane Rabun was born in Burke County and that there is no other Jane in Shooting Creek suggests at least grounds for further research. So too does the fact that this same Jane Rabun appears on the 1870 census immediately after David and Dorothy Baker Davenport. |
Death | b 1870 | Henry M. Rabun died b 1870. Henry is presumed to have died before the 1870 census; he is not enumerated with his family on the 1870 or later censuses. He was not a Civil War casualty; although he served in the Confederate Army and was captured, he was discharged at Camp Douglas IL in 1865. He returned home and at least two children were born after his return. |

William was shown as a 21-year-old farmer, born NC; Margaret was shown as age 20, born SC. More research is required to definitively link this William Davenport to the William who was David's son, but the fact that his uncle Robert Davenport is enumerated on the same census page suggests that it is so. |
