NOTE: One Washington Park is the red brick building at the end of Washington Street where it intersects with Broad Street (it is the building where the Rutgers Business School is now located). It is next door to the Newark Public Library; Gann's offices can only be entered from the Orange Street side. If you get here on a weekend or after 5 p.m., you MUST give the desk guard the voice telephone number listed above so he/she can verify that you should be allowed up to the floor that Gann is on.

Office hours:
[It's always advisable to make an appointment!!]
At Gann: noon to 7:45 p.m. Monday
noon to 7:45 p.m. Tuesday
noon to 7:45 p.m. Wednesday
noon to 7:45 p.m. Thursday
noon to 7:45 p.m. Friday
Before and after class as needed at law school or at Gann.

Attendance policies:
Class participation DOES count significantly; you can’t participate if you’re not here. Lateness, absences, late papers , discourtesy to other students by talking while they are on their feet, etc., WILL be counted against your class participation grade. Treat each class exactly as you would a court appearance.

Class Withdrawal:
Withdrawal from this class after the final term assignment is handed out and students are assigned to brief and argue the case for either appellant or respondent will carry with it a FAILING grade for the semester. The sole exception to this rule is withdrawal for medical reasons with a doctor’s certificate.

Collaboration policy:
ALL work at ALL stages of the course is to be your own. Do NOT work cooperatively with other students. It is not possible for me to gauge your work product and improvement if you are working with others. You may use other students who are NOT taking this class as practice judges for oral arguments, but that is all.

Grading:
Grades are not curved.
Class participation: 50%
Final Brief: 25%
Final Oral Argument: 25%
